Malte the pony is celebrating May Day with a picnic in the pasture, surrounded by his herd mates. But did you know that May Day has traditionally marked the day when cattle were let out to pasture in rural areas? Various rituals were performed to ensure the animals` well-being. Horses were even bathed in rivers on May Day to keep them free from horseflies during the summer. 🪰
